Aaahhh.... A Cup Of Tea & A Yummy Cake! What's On Your Bliss List?
Day 6 5th November 2011
I am sitting in "Tartines De Martines", a fab, kitschy tea shop in Samoens village (French Alps). I have a magazine, a pot of herbal tea and a homestyle magazine with pretty cushions & nice recipes (that I make a mental note to make at a later date - but know that in reality it will not happen). I also have my husband sitting next to me, with his nose in a book, pretending he is…

With incidents of savage bullying and intimidation hitting the news headlines on a daily basis, Mothership Magazine takes a closer look at this disturbing issue and examines how, as parents and teachers, we can help mitigate the problem more effectively.
Bullying can range from teasing and saying a few hurtful words to hurting someone with physical force. It can include physically hurting someone by pushing, tripping, hitting or punching them.…

All Hallows
Being churchy people, we don't do the whole witches and devils thing. This year, my biggest girl is just starting to notice that we do things differently, and I suspect the bravado from her classmates (most of whom I know are NOT going round doors)about collecting candy dressed as dead bodies (it's unclear whether the candy was dressed up or the kids, but they are only young and not grammatically developed!) has left her feeling a little put out.
We talked about it, and she…

Sisters
My sister has her birthday today. Little shout-out from the blogosphere for her...have a great day, sis!
When I had my first baby, I really wanted a little girl. After Sarah died, I wanted nothing more than another daughter, and I would have had a lot of problems coping had dd2 been a boy, but thankfully, she was a perfect little girl. We had dd3 because, more than anything, I wanted to give Little Miss a little sis. And when the baby came along, we were thrilled to have…

Fine dining...kinda!
I am a 'family' kinda gal. If I go out, we go out. My kids are with me 99% of the time, and that is mainly my choice. they go to school, they go to dance lessons, they go in the creche at church, but socially, it's Lou plus some.
We are tolerated at the mid range eateries. This week's visit to Pizza Express with a friend (table for 7 plus two high chairs, please) raised the odd eyebrow, but we were simply given a wide berth and that suited us fine. But we are rarely…

Would you, could you?
No, not green eggs and ham...
A family we know are looking to emigrate. It's a church plant thing, where the church are setting up in a new country and need a team to go along, and they feel called to be part of it. Which is super exciting, and will bless many people, hopefully including the team who go.
But every time I hear people saying this (whether they move domestically or internationally), I think two things. The first being 'Wow, that would be so…

boobs!
People who know me will tell you I am big on breastfeeding. Partly the natural, non chemical, attachment parenting thing, partly the Scottish and frugal thing.
When I was pg with DD1 and DD2, I didn't go to a bf class, or discuss it with anyone, or have any pressure put on me from a midwife...I hadn't been brought up around bf women, but for some reason I just assumed it was what I would do. I didn't buy formula or bottles, not in a 'these will hinder my bf journey'…

Yum-day Monday
Every few weeks I make yoghurt. And it is really hit and miss whether it works out or not, whether it gets used up or not, and whether it is really worth the time and energy involved. So every few weeks I say I'm not making it again and we're using store-bought. But the last two batches (admittedly dairy free) required so much tweaking they were definitely not worth the work, and I said no more till the weather warms up again.
Cue Little Miss demanding home made yogs,…

Weekend roundup
Due to obsessive staring at baby's neck and chest in case her breathing got worse, the blog has suffered. So in place of Saturday ramblings, let me shorthand our weekend.
Dance lessons (girls), morning in bed (baby and I), planning meeting (DH), grocery shopping (mummy and the minis). Toysrus to collect the (online stock checked) items they have been saving their special birthday money for. We go about once a year, they were so excited. That excitement lapsed somewhat…

Frazzled, but Friday!
Firstly, for those who have asked, the baby had a much better night, with less screaming and slightly smoother breathing, it's now raspy rather than sounding like she's drowning. It being a school hol, the girlies and I spent the early morning in our bed, watching 'Enchanted', which we hadn't seen. A very kind friend then took Little Miss off to a softplay place, and as our Friday playdate is also poorly, Tiny and I did some chores, some arts and crafts and some baking. The Baby managed…
